Quatrième dans le premier virage, Pelchat a rapidement pris la mesure de l’Américain Cody Miller pour se mettre en chasse de John Natalie et Chad Wienen. Les deux lascars américains de l’équipe d’usine CanAm-BRP semblaient partis pour prendre la poudre d’escampette comme lors de la première qualification où ils ont terminé l’un dans la roue de l’autre (mais à 18 secondes de leur plus proche rival). Cependant, Wienen est sorti de piste au troisième tour et Pelchat en a profité pour se glisser dans la deuxième place où il allait terminer, derrière Natalie. «Dans mes rêves les plus fous, il allait terminer deuxième, s’est exclamé Robert, le père de Pelchat, les yeux rougis par l’émotion. Il a travaillé tellement fort et il a eu tellement de malchances ici au Stade que je suis très, très heureux!» Comme son paternel livrait ses éloges, Pelchat faisait son entrée dans le paddock CanAm-BRP sous les applaudissements de ses équipiers et de ses supporters. «Ouffff, c’est long, dix tours, a dit Pelchat, le sourire aux lèvres. Quand je me suis retrouvé quatrième après le départ, j'ai su que ça allait être difficile de gagner. La compétition est tellement forte ici qu’il faut partir devant. Surtout que j’ai touché plusieurs points morts sur la boîte de vitesse au cours des quatre premiers tours. Si j’avais réussi à partir premier, j’aurais été difficile à dépasser mais, là, avec l’accident de Chad, je n’ai pas le choix d’être très heureux de ma deuxième place.»

Canada Cup ATV Champion Racer Richard Pelchat Proud of his 2009 Season Can-Am X-Team motocross racer Pelchat won the Canada Cup ATV Championship. Pelchat also took the holeshot in both moto races in the final round of the championship series aboard his DS 450. «I’m proud to win the cup for Canada,» he said. «Canadians all grow up dreaming of winning the Stanley Cup for a professional hockey team. Not me, I guess the name of the championship fits us.» BRP RACER PELCHAT WINS 2009 CANADA CUP ATV CHAMPIONSHIP Can-Am X-Team Racer, Richard Pelchat, took the Canada Cup ATV Championship in convincing fashion as he took the holeshot in both moto races in the final round of the championship series aboard his DS 450™ EFI ATV. The final round of the championship was held near Parry Sound, Ontario, where Pelchat led both races from start to finish to take the weekend overall. «Richard Pelchat has worked hard all this season and it certainly paid off for him at Parry Sound,» says Jimmie O'Dell, Racing Manager for Can-Am ATVs at BRP. «With this Canadian championship, Pelchat is our top DS 450 racer in Canada; we look forward to future results from this dedicated racer. This is a very important championship for everyone at BRP, we are proud to have Pelchat on a Can-Am ATV.» |

15 octobre 2008 Bonjour amis, médias et commanditaires, Ce week-end passé a été la dernière ronde du championnat canadien de VTT Pro à Ste-Julie, au Québec. La température était parfaite et la piste était de haute qualité. À seulement 20 minutes de la ville de Montréal, le terrain naturel de la piste de Ste-Julie est parfait pour les courses de VTT avec de la vitesse, des grands sauts et une belle vue pour les spectateurs. Les promoteurs ont fait un travail incroyable pour cette course et les spectateurs étaient au rendez-vous. Avant la course, j'avais 16 points d'avance sur la deuxième place, donc terminer la course était la priorité absolue. Première moto, je n'ai pas obtenu le départ que je voulais et je suis sorti deuxième dans le premier tour. Jasmin Plante était en tête, j'ai mis la pression sur lui, mais je jouais sécuritaire. Je ne voulais pas prendre des risques. J'attendais une erreur qui n'est pas venue. J'ai franchi la ligne d'arrivée deuxième et gagné un peu plus de points sur Michael Ouellet (deuxième dans le Championnat). Je tenais à terminer la saison en force et gagner la deuxième moto. Le second holeshot a été la plus drôle que j'ai jamais fait ....(Il est maintenant sur YouTube) Je suis parti en flèche à la sortie de la grille de départ et quand j'ai changé en quatrième, j’ai commencé un Wheely. J'ai continué sur 200 pieds. Dans le coin, Jasmin et moi étions au coude à coude, mais j'ai eu l'intérieur sur lui et j’ai tourné en premier. J'ai accéléré au premier tour pour augmenter l'écart un peu. Au tour 4, j'avais une avance confortable de 4 secondes, j'ai commencé à me détendre un peu plus. En milieu de course, Jasmin a cassé son silencieux et a été retranché. Avec une grande avance sur la deuxième place, j’ai mis le régulateur de vitesse pour ensuite prendre le drapeau à damier, la victoire de la journée et le championnat. Ce championnat canadien 2008 marque mon 6e championnat. Je m’en souviendrai toujours... J’ai eu des blessures dans le milieu de l'été, il a été vraiment difficile de revenir et de gagner. J’étais très ému de recevoir la plaque de numéro un. Je ne peux pas assez remercier mon mécanicien Mathieu d’être le meilleur et de toujours donner son 110% pour s’assurer que mes quads soient prêts. Ma copine Bianka pour son soutien continu et sa confiance en moi... la bonne bouffe, nettoyer la boîte de vitesse et pour tous les instants que nous partageons ensemble. Tous mes commanditaires qui mettent leur confiance en moi et m'aident à atteindre mes objectifs. Toutes les personnes chez Can-Am, MERCI. J'aime mon Can-Am, il est tellement puissant et il roule comme dans mes rêves. Tous les essais, la formation, la pratique, la réflexion, la conception ont porté fruit. October 15th, 2008 Hello Friends, Media and Sponsors, This past weekend was the last round of the Canadian ATV Pro championship in Ste-Julie, Quebec. The weather was perfect and the track was in top condition. Only 20 minutes out of Montreal city, the natural terrain Ste-Julie track is perfect for ATV racing with great speed, big jumps and nice view for the spectator. The promoters did an awesome job for the race as the spectator turn out was really impressive. Prior to the race, I had a 16 points lead over second place, so finishing the race was top priority. First moto, I did not get the jump I wanted and came out second in the first turn. Jasmin Plante was in the lead, I put pressure on him but I was playing it safe. I didn't want to take any risk. I was waiting for a mistake but it didn't come. I crossed the finish line second and gained a few more points over Michael Ouellet (Second in the Championship). I really wanted to finish the season strong and win the second moto. The second holeshot was the most funny I have ever done....(It is on YouTube now). I rocketed out of the gate and when I clicked into fourth it started to wheely. I ran for 200feet with a big fat wheelie. In the corner, Jasmin and I were neck and neck but I got the inside on him and started first. I put the hammer down in the first lap to open the gap a bit. By lap 4, I had a comfortable lead of 4 second, so I started to relax a bit more. At the midrace mark, Jasmin broke his muffler and was blackflaged. With a big lead over second place, I put it in cruised control to take the checkered flag, the overall win for the day and the championship. This 2008 Canadian Championship mark my 6th Canadian Championship. I will always remember it...with the injuries I substained in the middle of summer, it was really hard to comeback and win. It was pretty emotional for me to receive the number one plate. I can't thank enough my mechanic Mathieu for being the best and always giving 110% to ensure my quads are ready. My girlfriend Bianka continous support and belief in me...the great food, the clean gear and every moment we share together. All my sponsors that put their trust in me and help me acheived my goals. All the people at Can-Am, THANKS. I love my Can-Am, it so powerful now it is ridiculous and it handle like in my dreams. All the testing, training, practicing, thinking, designing it paid off. revient en force sur le circuit
canadien mais une DS-450 2008 de Can-Am. De plus, Richard est mandaté
par Can-Am pour compétitionner sur
le circuit américain de l'AMA.
Finalement, Richard participera à
quelques courses de la série WPSA
lorsqu'il n'y aura pas de conflit
avec le championnat canadien ou
américain. Richard est très heureux
de pouvoir continuer son rêve de
participer au championnat américain
et vous pouvez être certains que
Richard mettra tous les efforts pour
amener sa DS-450 sur le podium à
toutes les courses. Richard est présentement aux États-Unis pour sa préparation en vue de la première course en Californie, le 7 mars. |

Pelchat, won 5 consecutives Canadian
championship before spending the
2007 season in the WPSA series and
is now returning to the Canadian
Championship on a Can-Am DS-450.
Furthermore, Richard is also
mandated to compete the AMA ATVA
National Series in the USA. Finally,
Richard will be competing in a few
WPSA series when there is no
conflicts with the Canadian or
American Championship. Richard is
very happy to be able to combine the
Canadian and American championship
and will put all the necessary
effort to put his DS-450 on the
podium. |

17 septembre 2006 Ce week-end passé était la ronde finale. La course avait lieu à Notre-Dame-du-bon-conseil, Québec. La bataille était dure dans le premier moto et j'ai gagné devant Jasmin par seulement quelques secondes. Le deuxième moto s'est avéré être un vrai spectacle ! J'étais maintenant seulement à 1 point derrière. Jasmin et moi avons luttés durant les premiers tours. Mais Jasmin a fait une erreur, on s'est heurté et il a calé. J'ai suis reparti le premier. J'ai un peu ralenti mais James filait bon train pour me rattraper. Je ne comprenais pas les signaux de mon équipe !!! Avec seulement 2 tours à faire, il était maintenant très près de moi. J'ai repris le rythme et j'ai rapidement augmenté un peu l'espace entre les deux. J'ai pris le drapeau à damier... et j'ai gagné le championnat par quelques longueurs de VTT et seulement 2 points. Vous pouvez dire SOULAGÉ. La foule a adoré. |
September 17th, 2006 This past weekend was the Final round, the race was in Notre-Dame, Quebec. The battle was hard in the first moto and I won over Jasmin by only a few seconds. Second moto proved to be a real drama! I was now only 1 point back. Jasmin and I battle out for the first few laps. But Jasmin made a mistake and we collided and stalled. I got running the first, and now I was in ''bring it home mode''. But James Bank had other plan, as I was smoothly going around the track. He sure was in FIRE, trying to catch me back. I did not understand my crew sign!!! With only 2 laps to go, he was only a few bike length back. I upped my pace and quickly increased the gap a bit. I took the checkered flag...and won the championship by a few bike lengths and a mere 2 points. Can you say STRESS RELIEVE. The crowd loved it. |
